USD and ZiG Bookkeeping for Zimbabwean Businesses
Keep USD, ZiG (ZWG) and ZAR transactions in their original currencies and review separate ledger and report totals in Accounts.
Open the transaction ledgerRecord the source currency
When a USD bank statement arrives, import or enter the transactions in USD. Keep ZiG receipts in the corresponding currency even when the transactions belong to the same customer.
Check currency before reconciling
Match transactions against documents in the relevant currency and compare the ending ledger position with the corresponding bank or cash record.
Worked example
A USD 200 receipt and a ZiG 900 receipt describe two currency balances. Review each separately and use an explicit translation rate when producing a group view.
